According to the 2019 Profile of Home Staging Report from the National Associations of Realtors’ (NAR), staging a house can be beneficial for sellers who want to find the right buyer for their home. Here’s why staging your home is so important.

According to the NAR report, 74% of agents said that buyers already know what they want in a home before they even start looking. Staging makes it easier for them to recognize that your home comes close to their ideal. The lack of staging, on the other hand, can make it more challenging for buyers to imagine your property as their dream home. 40% of agents also said that staging had an impact on most buyers’ perceptions of a home as opposed to 6% who said that home staging made no difference.

83% of agents said that staging makes it easier for buyers to visualize the property as their future home while 38% said that it made buyers more likely to visit a property that they found online.

You don’t have to stage each and every room of your home to get it ready to sell. You only need to focus on key areas like the living room and main bedroom. 47% of agents said that buyers expect to see a staged living room while only 8% said the same for guest bedrooms.

Staging can improve home value

According to roughly 25% of agents, staging can increase the offering price by as much as 1% to 5% compared to similar homes that haven’t been staged. 17% said that staging increased the offering price by 6% to 10%. This implies that buyers are willing to pay a premium for staged properties that appeal to them.

Staging can lessen the number of days on the market

No one wants to deal with a stale listing. The longer your property languishes on the market, the higher the chances that you’ll need to slash prices, resulting in a smaller profit. 28% of agents observed a slight decrease in the number of days on the market for staged properties while 25% noted a significant decrease. This means that staging can help you save time and energy further down the line.

There are many ways to go about home staging. You can DIY it, entrust it with your agent, or hire a professional stager for the job. The good news is that home staging only costs $400 on average, according to the NAR report. The cost can also be recouped if staging increases your home’s value and helps you avoid costly price reductions.
